Since its inception in 1948 by N. Q. Cline, Sr., the Cline Company has consistently provided quality products and services to the automotive and industrial markets. In the early days, the Cline Company operated out of a small house at 5 Atwood Street in downtown Greenville. The front porch was used as a loading dock and the family worked feverishly inside, making hose assemblies with a hand hacksaw, a pair of pliers, and a knife to cut and peel off rubber covers. (at present, this is called skiving a rubber hose.)
In 1950, when hydraulic hose and fittings were becoming increasingly popular for replacing wire cables and winches on bulldozers and front-end loaders, Cline Hose & Hydraulics, LLC. became distributors for the leading manufactures of hose, fittings, adapters, and couplings. As the nation went metric, so did Cline Hose. They later added the flexible metal hose assembly facility with state of the Art welding and fabricating process. The company operates in a 27,000 square foot facility in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. The current workforce of 28 employees is ready to serve their customers every need. The corporate motto of Cline Hose & Hydraulics, LLC. "need a hose in a Hurry? We're ready to serve you"! is prominently displayed throughout the company's operation. 24-hr. Emergency service is always available 365 days a year.
We also offer training programs and technical support to assure proper installation and maintenance on all of our products. The firm, through the leadership of its founder, has continued to invest heavily in its "service first" philosophy throughout the years with staff members trained and experienced in each aspect of the business.
Cline Hose is proud to acknowledge many employees that have been with the company for over 25 years. In May of 2002 Cline Hose and Hydraulics suffered a major loss with the passing of its founder N. Q. Cline, Sr. Carrying on the family tradition, the company is now owned and operated by Mr. Cline Sr.’s grandsons, Glenn and Scott Cline. N.Q. Cline, Jr., their father, remains actively involved as a consultant to his sons. Glenn and Scott have been involved in the family business for over 18 years and have the experience and knowledge required to carry the business into the future. Together with their loyal employees, Glenn and Scott will maintain the service that our customers deserve.
Our Team
At any time, The Cline Company’s busy counter sales force is actively supplying technical knowledge and services to solve here-and-now hydraulic problems in the field. Service is about 90 percent of our strength. A distributor without sufficient hose and fitting supplies and supportive services is about as useful as a gas station without gas.
Our employees are our greatest asset. Their dedication and credibility has earned us a exceptional reputation in the industry. Aiding our service-first philosophy, we employ 5 outside sales representatives and 4 inside customer service sales personnel who provide the latest in product knowledge and assistance in making appropriate replacement part selections.
